13 University Students Arrested For WASSCE Fraud
The police in the Eastern Region have arrested 13 university students for allegedly writing the West African Secondary School Certificae Examination (WASSCE) for some candidates of the PLACID International School in the Birim Central municipality.
They are Suzzette Lamptey, a 19-year-old level 100 student of University of Cape Coast; Christella Agyepong, 18, level 100, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); Isabella Anning, 18, level 100, KNUST; Joyce Assabil, 21, level 100, University of Energy And Natural Resources; Agyei Elias, 22, level 200, University of Professional Studies; Adjoh Wisdom, 20, level 400, University of Professional Studies; Anim Ansah, 22, level 100, University of Ghana, Legon and Antwi David, 19, level 100, University of Professional Studies.
The rest are Desmond Agbesi, 26, graduate of University of Ghana Legon; Nyamekye Patience, 19, SHS 3 student of First Star International School, Accra; Eugenia Obeng Boateng, 20, another SHS 3 student of First Star international; Darko Kelvin, 18, SHS 3 student of the same school and Annor Darkwah Prince, 22 , also from the school.
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Regional Police PRO who confirmed the arrests to DAILY GUIDE, said the suspects, who were in police custody as at press time yesterday assisting in investigations, were spotted by an invigilator at the examination centre who suspected that they were not students of the school.
“Three others from a private second cycle institution – Star International School – were also picked up for the same offence. We are processing them for court for a charge of impersonation so that the court will deal with them,” he stated.
He hinted that the 13 were contracted from Accra and other places to write the examinations for the candidates.
